How to use the Metro >>

Christchurch's metro (bus) system offers a number of advantages for
individuals and the community. Did you know that there is a bus route within
500m of 95% of households in Christchurch?
A free central city shuttle service also runs every 10 minutes throughout
the week to connect the central city with attractions to the north and
south, such as the Casino and Hoyts 8 cinema.
For individuals, the metro:
- provides a safe and friendly, stress free alternative to driving,
particularly in rush hour traffic
- saves on petrol, car maintenance and the cost and hassle of parking
- is clean and comfortable, with new buses and the modern exchange
- offers convenient travel with an all-day 15-minute frequency and peak
time express services on an increasing number of routes and the orbiter
linking the suburbs and malls
For the community, the metro:
- is better for the environment
- reduces traffic congestion and makes our roads safer
- provides a transport service for people that can not drive or do not
own a car
People who usually use their cars can benefit from increased use of
public transport for some journeys. Why not think about the places in
Christchurch that you go to and whether the bus might be a good alternative
way to get there.
