Go together - Ten tips for
successful ridesharing
- Be flexible in Ridesharing arrangements. You can arrange to Rideshare
one day a week or once a fortnight - you don't have to do it every time
you travel.
- Set the ground rules:
- Radio on or off - and which stations(s)
- Smoking or no smoking
- Conservation - topics or silence
- Mobile phones - on or off
- Passengers reading or doing paper work
- Make arrangements for absenteeism or emergencies.
- Be on time, whether you're driving or being picked up. If you can't
make it, call in PLENTY of time for your fellow Rideshares to make other
arrangements.
- If you're driving, make sure you have plenty of fuel in the tank and
that your car is clean and running well. No one wants extra stops on the
way, or worse, a breakdown.
- Don't make or request detours, such as for the morning paper or other
errands.
- Be considerate when it comes to your own habits and be tolerant of
others.
- Come to an arrangement in advance about sharing the responsibility of
driving or for sharing fuel and parking costs.
- Your car insurance cover is not affected by ridesharing, so you
needn't worry.
- Remember, when you're driving, you're responsible for the lives of
others. So drive safely at all times.
